In France, it is very rare to find a public Montessori school due to constraints and restrictions placed by education in the public sector.  Therefore, Montessori schools do not benefit from governmental financial aid and must rely only on tuition for the costs of the daily operation of the school. ​

After the age of 12 children may need to reintegrate into the public school.  However, this should not pose any difficulties for the child because a paramount focus of the child’s development during his formative years in the Montessori program is one of adaptation.  “Education is a work of self-organization by which man adapts himself to the conditions of life.”  Maria Montessori ​

Montessori education recognizes the distinctions at each stage of development in a child’s life.  Children under three belong in an environment that Montessori education calls the Assistant to Infancy environment.  In the A to I environment the child’s psychological needs are meet along her physical needs with apparatus that is even smaller then those found in our Children’s House.  Currently, Montessori Hossegor does not have an Assistant to Infancy program.  Children are accepted based on their level of independence.  Montessori Hossegor’s consideration of a child into the program generally begins around 2 years 8 months of age.  Families wishing to secure a spot in our school before their child’s third birthday may complete a waiting list/application form.

A Montessori program by its very nature cannot follow the programs set forth by the Education Nationale but it does however, respect the benchmarks set down by the EN. MH ensures that children are at a grade level typical of other children their age.

Yes, the school is declared with the Marie, prefecture, and with the Education National.  The school is also established as an ERP building to welcome children in a school setting.

Children and especially young children at the age of three adapt quickly to their environment.  Your child’s psyche is comforted by the fact that Montessori environments are catered to both the psychical and psychological needs of your child.  Our school is accustomed to welcoming non-English speaking children into our environments and ensures that the child knows how to address his immediate needs.   Children are also welcomed, assisted and aided by our older children in their environment.

Children bring their lunches to school in a lunch bag.  Children eat inside our environments in a communal setting.
